1966 vs 2013 – miniaturization of electronic components

Just a fun fact. I have replaced the big capacitor in the vintage KLH Model TwentyOne radio. The radio has a stamp on the speaker from October 1966. The capacitor is 2,000uF 30V. I have replaced it with 2,200uF 35V Nichicon capacitor. Here is the difference in size that shows the progress of miniaturization over almost 47 years.

Here is the new capacitor in place. You can see a zip tie on the right that was holding the old cap in place. The new capacitor does not even reach it.
